The Swedish feature film Kevlar Soul (Kevlarsjäl) is nominated for the 2026 Nordic Council Film Prize. The nominees are director Maria Eriksson-Hecht, screenwriter Pelle Rådström, and producers Ronny Fritsche and Lizette Jonjic.
Kevlar Soul is an admirable drama that combines a high level of artistic integrity with deep social concern. It is a film that very openly focuses on brothers Robin and Alex who, after the death of their mother, live with their alcoholic father, a former career officer.
Maria Eriksson-Hecht’s direction is characterised by the utmost care for both the narrative and for the visual expression. Her sensitive character direction captures the film’s main strength: the precise tonality in Josef Kersh’s and Rio Svensson’s skinless portrayals of the young brothers.
